NEW BEGINNINGS You realize that two neighborhood kids have been watching you every evening when you start your run. They are high school age, and one of them started to run with you. The other one, Billy, asked you some pretty good questions about what you were doing and if he could run the race, too.
Why not train them? Now they come over every afternoon and stretch with you. Their parents think it’s a great idea, and on weekends you have started to teach them all about eating right and exercise. They are really getting into it.
Your friend Dan at the gym said they could come in and use the weight room for an hour on the weekends. And remember how proudyou felt when they entered and finished the 10K run for Thanksgiving?
That was a really great experience, and you felt like it was a great way to spend your time. In fact, you might turn your garage into a training room. Then, when Billy told you that the track coach didn’t really know much about training runners, you spent a day at the local high school and offered your services.
This has turned out to be the best idea yet! You just may have found a new career! Retirement – it’s just the greatest.
