Hello, Steve! Happy 62nd birthday! So, you’ve decided to retire - Congratulations! And the office staff held a big party in your honor last week? Let the fun begin! You really enjoyed the party and lots of people were wondering (and feeling a little jealous) about your future plans. Jerry from HR asked, “What are you going to do with all that free time?” You told him that you are going to enjoy not having a schedule, finally be able to travel, and maybe even begin training to run a half marathon!
IT COULD GO EITHER WAY You even said you might take classes to learn a new language, volunteer, or start a little business! So many choices. You left feeling pretty good about things, promising everyone you would keep in touch and stop by once in a while to say hello. After all, 16 years together bonds people.
Then, on the way home a voice in your head that sometimes talks said, “Ok, Steve, so what are you going to do with all that free time?” At the red light, you stop and turn up the radio. You say out loud, “Ok, stop it. I made the right decision! I’ll finally have some time for myself.”
If you are so happy that you will have a clear calendar and not be tied to a schedule, turn to page 2.
If you feel a little worried because you do get bored easily and often think “What am I going to do now?’ turn to page 3.
